Try this must-make do-not-miss summer savoury breakfast muffin recipe to upgrade your breakfast to the next level. These muffins loaded with fresh figs, smoked ham, and Gruyere cheese will become your instant favorite from the first bite! What’s the bonus? It is simple making!

  1. Preheat oven to 356 F/180 C. To make the muffin dough, sift flour and baking powder with a flour sifter in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, place eggs, olive oil, milk, salt, and pepper to taste and mix with a hand whisk. Pour this preparation into dry mixture and combine well.
  2. To make the filling, cut fresh figs into medium-sized pieces. Cut smoked ham into triangles or squares. Also, grate Gruyere cheese. Add figs, ham, and cheese into the principal preparation and gently mix with a rubber spatula.
  3. Butter wells of a muffin pan and pour the dough, filling up to two-thirds. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Check readiness of muffins with a toothpick: if it comes out dry, the muffins are ready. Remove them from the mold and let cool on a wire rack. Serve immediately.

  1. Don’t over stir the mixture. Once you add figs, ham and cheese, mix it just to combine.
  2. Grease the cavities of a muffin pan well. If you want to use paper muffin cups, spray them with oil before placing the dough; although, using paper liners is unnecessarily here.
  3. Keep your eye on the baking time: use a toothpick to test the muffins for readiness. Just remember that every oven is different.
